About Kebulak

How Kebulak was established

I started showing dogs from a young age, initially showing Cherie Walters’, my aunt’s, Airedale Terriers in junior handling competitions and then her Kerry Blue Terriers as a partner in the Kamaghan Kennels.

My first Kerry Blue was a bitch called Kamaghan Ipswich Idol. She won a RCC and achieved her junior warrant. I never had a litter from from ‘Georgie’ but she was my best friend as a teenager. When I left home Georgie stayed with my mother for the remainder of her life.

My next Kerry Blue was a male dog called Benson – Kamaghan Hot Property. Benson was the son of Ch Kamaghan All Mighty; a top winning Kerry and grandsire of my homebred Ch Kamaghan Hot Stuff at Arkama. Benson won 1 CC (my first).

My next Kerry was Ch Kamaghan Fancy Nancy who I co-owned with her breeder, Cherie Walters. She won 3 CCs and was my first champion. She also received one Group 3 placement at championship show level.

Ch Kamaghan Fancy Nancy

Ch Kamaghan Fancy Nancy was mated to Ch/Ir Ch Hallsblu Sign Seal and Deliver and from this letter I kept a bitch; Kamaghan Temptress. She was Top Puppy in 1998 and won a RCC before being mated to Ch Lunabrook’s Finnegans Favour which produced Ch/It Ch Kamaghan Mr Bombastic, who now resides at the famous Balboa Kennels in Italy and was Top Terrier in Italy in 2002 and his litter sister Kamaghan Twice as Nice at Arkama.

Ch/It Ch Kamaghan Mr Bombastic

Ch Kamaghan Fancy Nancy was mated to Ch/It Ch Kamaghan Mr Bombastic and this mating produced Ch Kamaghan Mr Ballistic; winner of 6 CCs and 9 RCCs. He was also Top Sire in 2002.

I then bought in what proved to be one an important foundation bitch for Kebulak Kennels; Ch Arkama Bombshell at Kamaghan, ‘Jade’ who was bred by Pat Munro. I also became a partner in the Arkama affix at this time. Jade was royally bred out of Ch Arkama I Will Survive (a Championship Show Group winner) and Ch Arkama Claim to Fame (from the famous mating of Ch Arkama Made to Measure & Am Ch Kerrageen’s Hotspur which produced a litter of 5, all of whom became champions). Ch Arkama Bombshell became the 6 generation bitch champion for Arkama winning 9 CCs, 10 RCCs, Top Kerry Bitch 2002 and Championship Show Group 2, 3 & 4 placings. She was also Top Puppy in 2000, winning 12 Best Puppy awards at Championship Shows (a record number of wins) and was a Regional Finalist of the UK’s Pup of the Year competition. Jade still resides with me.

Following a judging appointment in Northern Ireland I purchased a very eye catching dog ‘Flash Harry’. He was a son of Ch/Ir Ch/It Ch Balboa Belmondo. ‘Flash Harry’ won a RCC at his first Championship Show and had the makings of a champion but tragically died less than a year after I bought him.

He left behind a legacy however. From one mating to Arkama By Design (litter sister to Bombshell) he produced Ch Arkama Flashdance (‘Fay’) who was bred by Pat Munro; her co-owner. I showed Fay to win Top Kerry 2004, 9 CCs, 3 RCCs and Championship Show Group 3 and 4. She was also Runner Up in the Pet Plan Junior Stakes.

Ch Arkama Flashdance

I mated Kamaghan Twice as Nice at Arkama to Kamaghan Hot Property and the mating produced Ch Kamaghan Hot Stuff at Arkama who was co-owned by Dave Scawthorn of the world famous Saredon Terrier Kennels and Pat Munro, Arkama. Both Hot Stuff and Flashdance became champions on the same day.

During 2005 I handled a bitch for Debbie Graham, Stanstead Kennels. Ch Stanstead La Deva (‘Dee’) became to Top Bitch for 2005; winning 3 CCs and 1 x Group 4 placement at championship show level. She was co-owned by myself and Bob Whitehead (Debbie’s partner).

Ch Arkama Bombshell had only one litter, by Ch/It Ch Balboa Benhur; who resided with me for some of his time in the UK. This litter produced my Ch Arkama Penelope Pitstop (‘Pippa’) (Top Kerry 2007, 6 CCs, 2 RCCs, Group 2 & Group 3); Arkama Pinball Wizard at Philwyre (‘Bobby’) (co-owned with Phil Carvey) who currently has 2 CCs and 2 RCCs handled by myself; Kebulak Arkama Poetry In Motion (‘Pria’), who is unshown but residing a Kebulak; and Arkama Proper Little Madam at Stanstead (‘Mia’) who was co-owned by Debbie Graham, Stanstead Kerry Blues and Lakeland Terriers before she joined the Balboa Kennels in Italy where she is a championship show group winner and close to her Italian champion title. (See current show dogs for photos of all).

Ch/It Ch Balboa Benhur was also mated to Ch Arkama Flashdance. This litter produced Arkama Rockafella at Kebulak, who is currently in Spain with La Cadiera Kennels (see current show dogs) and is a championship show Group winner in Spain. Ch Arkama Flashdance was later mated to Belgium Ch Arkama Helluvafella (a Benhur son) and produced Arkama Tickety Boo at Kebulak (see current show dogs) and Ch/It Ch Arkama True Grit who resides in Italy with Balboa Kennels.

In 2006 I purchased my first Lakeland Terrier from Saredon Terrier Kennels; Ch Saredon Unreachable Star at Arkama. ‘ Star’ gained her title during 2008. Also during 2008 I imported a Blackdale Lakeland Terrier bitch from Harry O’Donoghue’s famous Terrier Kennels in Ireland. Blackdale Desert Bloom (‘Sahara’) will be campaigned in 2009 and a Lakeland puppy bitch from Nujax Kennels in the UK: Nujax Under the Influence at Kebulak who I have already won a RCC, Best Bitch and Best Puppy at her first championship show at only 7 months of age.

Following a trip to the World Show in Poland in 2006 I purchased an Irish Ch dog from Philip & Eddie O’Brien & Jarka Poulova – Ch/Ir Ch Edbrios Bohemian Ivanhoe at Arkama (‘Bogy’). He won 4 CCs and 2 RCCs in 6 shows during 2007. The arrival of Bogy has introduced further Louisburgh breeding into the Kebulak bloodlines and introduced Slovakian and Czech bloodlines. He has sired a number of exciting youngsters to date. He has produced show dogs for Cyres, Arkama and Balboa Kennels as well as siring Multi Ch Edbrios Jazzman, Ir Ch Edbrios Marco Polo (1 CC), French Junior Champion Edbrios Twist and Shout and Cz Ch Edbrios Bohemian Rapsody.

The World Show proved to be very important as it was also at this show I had the opportunity to admire some of the Kerrydom Court Kerry Blue Terriers; a Slovakian Kennel owned by Zuzana Szovenyiova. I purchased a puppy from Zuzana – Kerrydom Court Irresistible Guy (’Guy’).

Kerrydom Court Irresistible Guy (’Guy’)

Guy mated Stanstead Aria at Arkama (daughter of Benhur) and this produced Stanstead Shakin Stevens at Kebulak and Stanstead Queen of Soul for Kebulak (see current show dogs). He also mated Arkama Tickety Boo at Kebulak and has produced 3 promising youngsters for the show ring: Kebulak Willie Nelson; Kebulak Macy Gray; and Kebulak Pink Floyd the latter is owned by a new exhibitor to the UK Kerry scene (see current show dogs).

Following the arrival of ‘Bogy’ from the Edbrios Kennels, I purchased 2 bitches from Int, UK, Ir, Svk, Po, Cz Ch Edbrios Blue Ivanhoe who was top dog all breeds in Ireland in 2007. Edbrios Vanity Fair, although lightly shown to date has won BPIS at the Kerry Blue Terrier Association Open show and won her class at the Kerry Blue Terrier Association Championship Show and Darlington Championship Show in 2008 and was Reserve Best Bitch at the Kerry Blue Association Open Show in 2008. She is a very promising bitch. Her litter sister Edbrios Light My Fire has recently been mated to Arkama Pinball Wizard ar Philwyre and 3 puppies will be on the UK show scene: Kebulak Great Balls of Fire and Kebulak Wheels on Fire owned by myself and Kebulak Ring of Fire owned by Kerry exhibitors Tom and Caitlin Wilcox. (See current dogs)

More recently my second import from Kerrydom Court has arrived. This time a bitch Kerrydom Court Keeley at Kebulak (see current dogs). ‘Choo Choo’ has already qualified for Crufts and was Reserve Best Bitch at Manchester Championship Show in January 2009.. She is sired by Canadian and US champion Symphonie’s Blind Date out of a stunning multi titled Dinnyesvarosi bitch, ‘Bluish Beauty’.

After a long wait my Granemore Kerry has also finally arrived. I did not feel my Kennel could be complete without benefitting from the quality of this successful line. Granemore Maximillian, sired by Reserve Best in Show Crufts winner Ch Torums Tunde Bayou was Best Puppy at Manchester Championship Show in 2009 and Best Puppy in Breed at Crufts 2009 (see current dogs).

A combination of all of the above bloodlines is the future of Kebulak.

Cara with 2 of her champions.
